Air Cleaner
« on: February 23, 2009, 07:14:21 PM »

This is an inexpensive air cleaner. The total project cost approximately $35.00. I went to a heating and air conditioning establishment. I was looking for a used squirrel cage blower. To my suprise they offered me one for free. Only requirement was I had to get it out of the air conditioner myself. So about 15 minutes later I had a blower at a great price. As you can see the air cleaner has a simple design. A box with two 12x24 filters on the intake end and one filter on the other end and a squirrel cage blower in the middle. I purchased a three way switch, asked the genius next door (Steve) for some help in wiring it. It works better than I had imagined. It has already made a difference in my garage.

$35 dollars is an awesome deal considering a store bought version runs in the $250 range.  Its fantastic that the heating/cooling place gave you the cage for free, goes to show ones mans trash is someones treasure.

I'm all set to make a similar filter for my shop so I can keep the dust out of the air and my lungs.

Thanks for the inspiration (and spare squire cage)
